Teaching you Girl Math when it Comes to Budgeting!

Teaching you Girl Math when it Comes to Budgeting!

Let me tell you how my mind is wrapped around budgeting. I am spoiled, and if I want something, I have to get it! Yes, I understand sacrifices, and yes, there are some things I will sacrifice, like packing my lunch. So, when the girlies order food at work, count me out! But now here is my girl math; I am monetized on two social media platforms, so now I create content on making my lunch and helping the other girlies with lunch ideas! Now that is girl math! Saving while getting paid! Budgeting is about consistency and still enjoying life!

That Beyonce Formation mindset- I see it, I want it, I stunt; yellow bone-it I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it!

I know everyone is always screaming budget! I laugh my butt off because a budget for many can be overwhelming, especially for my single moms working pay-check to pay-check.

When they look at a budget, they often cut things out for themselves to provide for their children. They might stretch a hairstyle, do not invest in self-care, and definitely are not out doing brunches!

Social media is an illusion, and trust me, I get it! While a budget is essential, knowing how to make more money is also important! Let's be honest: who wants to live off of Ramen Noodles for 3-5 years in hopes you become debt-free? Yes, it can be done but imagine the stress you are placing on yourself and your kids. Also, every time you scroll through social media, you see these moms living a life of luxury. Post speaking on the importance of self-care, lol. Yes, it can be overwhelming. You have to decide if you are ready to make a change! We all know budgeting can be challenge but don't you want more out of life, I know I do!

Also, I am a fan of self-care at home. I am not speaking about always having Spa days, but self-care at home costs money.

I know you might be tired of hearing about budgeting, but keep reading!

Of course, many moms want to have an emergency fund, travel with their families, make spring breaks memorable, not stress over summer camp fees, and get their kids involved in extracurricular activities—right?

So, as a single mom, budgeting can be challenging, but if it goes with your whole mommy glow-up and a one-year plan, and you consistently show up for yourself and your kids, it will be life-changing!

Let's discuss budgeting the Fierce Mompreneur way! I want you to create a vision board, but it should also involve knowing the costs of everything.

If you want a new house, how much money do you need to put down? How much will it cost to move? Vision and price your new furniture. Remember, this doesn't have to be your forever furniture, but if you want something new, BUDGET for it! Or even if you do not want to purchase a new home, you might want to upgrade your current home!

Do you want a new car? How much down must you have at the time of the deal? What are you willing to pay monthly?

If you want a family trip, plan and BUDGET for it!

You want to start enjoying a spa once a quarter. Find the spa, price the services, and budget for it!

When you are creating your vision board, go all out. Those are just some examples. Now you see this income sheet (available for FREE at www.TheFierceMompreneur.com) above! Please start thinking of the streams you have and fill them in! If it is not a stream you have yet started, place your launch date!

My Example:

  • Digital Products/Courses
  • Drop-Shipping
  • Content Creator
  • Real Estate

Now, let's talk about Bills and Expenses! I am not here to tussle and go back and forth; this is how I budget! I am sharing this because it might help some others! Now, bills to me are fixed: mortgage/rent, car note, car insurance, cable, cell phone, extended day, gas, and Utility.

Some people will put gas and utilities as expenses because they can vary monthly! I budget the average amount because bills are must-haves to keep things afloat. Now, some might be saying well, what about food? You can change food monthly by couponing and taking advantage of BOGO meals (Another GREAT content idea).

The next page is expenses. Examples of expenses include Nails, hair, groceries, eating out, entertainment, clothes, personal items, and cleaning supplies.

Now, get to totaling your monthly bills and expenses and your current income. Do you break even, are short, or have something extra for savings?

Now add up the cost of everything on your vision board and divide it by 12! How much do you need to make monthly to achieve everything on your vision board?
